Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16

recently i have two different friends, on two different days call and confess sin to me, and ask for prayer, and accountability. both cases shocked me. not because they sinned, but because they sinned and no one knew about it and they quickly came clean and told someone and asked for prayer.most people hide thier sin.  i was proud of them. these guys were not playing games. they admitted i struggle with not sinning, i messed up, i want to be forgiven, free, and cleansed. healing is found not in hiding your sin, but in confessing it with the desire to find freedom from it.

recently i also got a call from a friend who had learned that a family member had some major sinful addictions and struggles, and had become a master at concealing it. no one knew. some of the sin started destroying their family. he thought the worse thing possible was to get caught, but the worse thing for him is that it took so long for him to get caught. when sin is hidden it is more dangerous, as we become more and more enslaved and get dragged deeper into the guilt and destruction our sin inevitably leads to. unconfessed sin is like going to the doctor with a gun shot wound or a snake bite and covering it up, and acting like everything is okay. the doctor has the ability, desire, and tools to help you and make you well. Jesus is the Great Physician and the Great Deliever. Sin is destructive . . . always destructive. We need to run to our Lord and confess because. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness! We need to run to other people who are full of Jesus and confess to them, so they can keep us accountable, pray for us, wield the sword of the Spirit with us killing the lies of Satan we believe, and link Shields of Faith with us blocking the assault of the enemy! Are you hiding from healing? Come Clean and Make War against that sin! Be killing sin with the help of the Body of Christ . . . or sin will be killing you!
